One 12”x 12” sheet Dream Street “Reflections” – lined/chain link fence
One 12”x 12” sheet Dream Street “High Voltage” – stars/diamond plating
Piece of chipboard
2 different size glitter gears - paper by AC Cardstock
12 brads

Black Ink
Your favorite stamp alphabet (about 1 ½” tall)
Black pen
3D adhesive
This month’s layout is a top ten list based on my kid’s (“C & E”) at-the-moment favorites. It is meant to give you a different perspective on your journaling. If you do not want to do a top ten list, this layout is easily adaptable to many themes: a trip to the Air & Space Museum, little boys playing with cars, big boys playing with big cars, cars you’ve driven through the years, etc. If you have a shorter title, the journaling blocks can be attached to the layout as photo mats. So have fun with it and make it work for you!
Instructions:
1. Paint chipboard with silver paint dabber. Set aside to dry.
2. Cut a 3”x 12” inch strip from “High Voltage” star paper. Cut that strip into four 3”x 3” photo mats. From remaining paper, cut a 5 1/2”x 12” strip. From that strip cut a 5 ½”x 7 ½” photo mat. Set aside 4 ½”x 5 ½” scrap for bonus project. Ink all edges with silver paint dabber.
3. Cut two 4”x 12” strips from one piece of “Hard Steel” paper (gray metal with rivets). To create pocket, attach one strip to the bottom of each of the other two sheets of “Hard Steel” so that the dark side is up and only attach on the bottom and two sides. Leave the top open to insert journaling cards.
4. On left page of layout, attach 5 ½”x 7 ½” stars photo mat approximately one inch from left side and one inch from top of page. Make sure you have a row of “rivets” showing along the left side and top. Attach one 3”x 3” photo mat in the bottom right hand of page about ½” from bottom and a ½” from right side.
5. Attach outline of smaller gear to the bottom left of 5”x 7” photo mat slightly overlapping photo mat. (Tip: Put adhesive just on the bottom of the gear, so you can slide a photo behind it at a later time.) Attach outline of circle in the middle of the glitter gear.
6. On right page of layout, attach remaining three 3”x 3” photo mats evenly spaced on bottom border about ½” from the bottom.
7. Attach outline of large glitter gear in the top right corner of page. Place so that the gear is slightly off the page. Once the gear is attach, flip page over and tip off the parts that go off the page. Attach small gear to the middle of outline.
8. Starting in the top outside corners of the double page layout, use paper piercer to punch holes through every other rivet in paper. Insert brads. (There are only 12 brads so be sure where you want to punch before you pierce it.)
9. Cut two 4 ½”x 12” strips from “Reflections” lined paper. From the first top strip, cut four 3” x 4 ½” journaling blocks. From the second, cut two 3”x 4 ½” blocks, one from each end, leaving you a 4 ½”x 6” lined block from the center of the paper to use on our bonus project. Ink edges if desired, and insert in two in pocket on left page and four on pocket on right page. These blocks will be where you can list your top ten in whatever category fits your pictures and/or subject! Don’t have a lot of journaling? Use these blocks as photo mats!
10. Title treatment: If your chipboard is dry, stamp out the letters of your title. Space the letters apart because you will cut them out individually. They do not need to be straight on the chipboard since you will be cutting them out one by one. Don’t like the way one of your letters came out? Stamp it again!
11. Cut each a rectangle around each letter. No need for perfection, this is the “funky” part of the layout. Use a fine tip black pen to outline each rectangle. Again, not looking for perfect lines, just fast broad strokes to help each letter pop. Arrange your title and attach every other letter with 3D adhesive to add a little interest to your title and help it stand up against the thicker glitter gears.
Bonus Card Project:
1. Ink edges of 4 ½”x 5 ½” star block and 4 ½”x 6” lined/chain link block with black ink.
2. Score a line about ¾” from left side of star block.
3. Place star paper on top of chain link paper.
4. Use paper piercer to poke two holes: one about 1” from top and another about 1” from bottom and both about 1/3” from left side. Place brads in holes and secure.
5. Attach big glittered gear to star paper so that part of the gear is off the top right of the paper.
6. Stamp “U” and “are the best on scraps of lined paper. Cut out and attached with 3D adhesive to card as shown.
7. Pull gear to open card. Ink back of gear with black ink so it will match the inside of the card.
